ANSWERS

Why did you close CSI?

Answer: It was time to revise how we presented Dr. Stanley’s discipleship material to give you an integrated yet flexible learning experience. Instead of working through the content lesson by lesson in a prescribed manner, you can now go directly to articles, lessons or videos that you find helpful. We also wanted to offer a training component as a companion to the Life Principles Bible. The Life Principles Center supplements Dr. Stanley’s emphasis on a principle in each broadcast. Lastly, by absorbing the site into intouch.org, we hope to make it available to more people.

Question: What is the Life Principles Center and how does it differ from CSI?

Answer: The Charles Stanley Institute was an online school; the Life Principles Center is a multimedia resource center. In addition to a discussion board, you can find teaching on the 30 Life Principles, inspiring stories of godly people, biblical answers to everyday questions, and articles on a variety of topics. Sermons, in video or audio format, are available to you, as well as other videos featuring Dr. Stanley. While we offer Faith Foundations in pdf format (and eventually more in-depth teaching), the LPC is not primarily course-based, and nor will we require you to learn the material in a certain order.

Question: Where are the goals, journals, and prayers I had on CSI’s site?

Answer: Because of the privacy features and the limitations of transferring data from one software program into another, we were unable to save these for you. Remember that your goals, journals and prayers have eternal importance. No earthly record of them may remain, but they have likely changed your life and the lives of others in immeasurable ways.

We encourage you to seek the Lord about how to record your prayers, goals, and spiritual experiences in the future.

Question: Where are my forum posts?

Answer: In creating a new, faster message board, we were unable to save the old threads from the previous forum. However, even if the posts are gone, the friendships you formed and spiritual lessons you learned remain a part of you. Consider the new forum a fresh opportunity to connect with others and grow in your faith. (Note: the “reply” option is now located at the top of the page, not the bottom of the person’s post.)

Please let us know of any problems. Send your comments to webmaster@intouch.org.

Question: If I was registered with a user name and password at CSI, do I have to register again to use the discussion forum?

Answer: Yes. The login for CSI and for the Life Principles Center are not compatible. However, if you have an account with intouch.org (for instance, to view the Life Principle Notes online), that user name and password will work. We encourage you to use the same login information to make navigating around the site easier.

Question: How can I reply to a post using the new message board?

Answer: The “reply” option is now at the top left of the page, no matter how far down the page the post is. Simply click on the word “reply” and type your response.

Question: What is Faith Foundations? Can a mature believer benefit from it?

Answer: Faith Foundations is a program of study available online in pdf format. It is primarily designed for new believers or believers who need grounding in certain foundational truths about the faith. However, many seasoned believers have enjoyed refreshing their knowledge of the basics of Christianity. Others report that they learned things they had never before known, and that they particularly enjoy the journal questions. Topics include the unconditional love of God, the role of the Holy Spirit, overcoming temptation, our identity in Christ, how to discover your spiritual gifts, and many other subjects.

Question: Where is Faith Foundations? Can I still finish it?

Answer: The 16 Faith Foundations courses are available as Adobe PDFs to view online or download. You may study at your convenience, without the “coursework” feel of the Institute. Get the files. (You will need the Adobe Acrobat Reader to view the files.)

We no longer offer a certificate of completion since we have no way to verify that you have finished the course.

Question: If I work through Faith Foundations, can I get a certificate of completion?

Answer: No. We no longer offer a certificate of completion since we have no way to verify that you have finished the course. Of course, when you finish a lesson, you have the satisfaction of knowing that you have grown in your relationship with the Lord.

Question: I’d like to take some advanced courses, similar to the electives you once offered. When will you offer more courses like that?

Answer: We plan to evaluate each elective and redevelop them as necessary. They will be available sometime in the future.

Eventually, we hope to offer other in-depth learning materials as well—such as studies covering books of the Bible, topics of spiritual interest, and practical Christian living.

Question: I wanted to earn a certificate specializing in one of the elective tracks you offered before. Can I still do that?

Answer: No. The Life Principles Center isn’t structured like an institute, with courses offered for credits. You can work through the material at your own pace and in the order you choose to do so, but we don’t have the ability track your progress.

If your goal is to earn certification for an area of study, we recommend that you talk to your pastor for suggestions.

Question: Do have to pay to use the Life Principles Center?

Answer: At this time, all the materials in the Life Principles Center are offered free of charge.

Question: Is Faith Foundations available in print?

Answer: Unfortunately, no. It is available online although you may download and print the material for your personal or church use. Get the files.

Question: I really benefited from Faith Foundations. Do I have permission to use the material to teach others?

Answer: Yes, you may download the material to use in Bible studies, sermons or Sunday school classes, as long as you give credit to Dr. Stanley, don’t sell it or charge tuition, and make fewer than 1,000 copies of the material.

Question: I finished Faith Foundations and applied for my signed certificate before the deadline (April 15, 2007), and I still haven’t received it. What’s going on?

Answer: We sincerely apologize for any delay you have experienced. Due to the volume of requests, we have been overwhelmed and unable to process them as quickly as we’d like.*

Once you have submitted your request, we ask that you give us six weeks to send the certificate to you. After that time, you may contact us through e-mail regarding the problem. When you write, please include 1) your name, 2) your mailing address*, 3) the approximate date that you finished the course, and 4) how you would like your name written on your certificate. Our e-mail address is webmaster@intouch.org.

*Less common reasons are that we have an incomplete address, or that you requested your certificate and then moved.
