Elisha: Enjoying a Hedge of Angels
Who knows what God may accomplish through prayer?
The prophet Elisha experienced the miraculous protection of God as the result of prayer. The king of Syria sought to kill Elisha, who kept telling the Israelite army his every move. When the Syrian king discovered Elisha in Dothan, he sent a huge army to surround the city.
Early the next morning, Elisha saw the army ready to attack. When his frightened servant asked Elisha what they should do, Elisha asked God to open the eyes of the young man. Immediately the servant could see the hillside around Elisha filled with horses and chariots of fire—a hedge of angels.
As the Syrian army approached, Elisha prayed, “Strike this people, I pray, with blindness” (2 Kin. 6:18). Elisha then led the blind army all the way to Samaria before God opened their eyes, again through the prayers of Elisha!
